Hard Drive Meltdown
This sucks. My external hard drive failed yesterday. Well I think it was the power supply for the enclosure and not the drive itself. Of course this is just a backup of old files or so I thought. I broke out into a cold sweat when I realized that 4 + years worth of family photos resided on this drive. The originals sit on a hard drive that a pulled out of an old machine before I trashed it. So now I have two hard drives sitting on a desk waiting to be rescued. I really hope it was just the power supply on that enclosure. Another one is on the way to rescue me. At least I had the best shots developed. …To be continued…
I have had a long absence and realized that I never updated this post. All was not lost. The new case came in the mail and within 5 minutes, the hard drive was working again. I learned a valuable lesson and immediately backed up the contents to several disks. I never want to experience that feeling again.
